Football: Another one bites the dust

I don’t follow English football as closely as I used to before but that is not to say that I’m in the dark. I still do from a distance. If you are an English football (aka as English Premier League - EPL) fan, then you know that Arsenal has been having a draught season that has prolonged for too many years to even bother counting; and therein lays my reason for not following the EPL as much as I used to during the days of Thierry Henry.

Your Opportunity Is Just A Challenge Away

If you missed the recently concluded Tigo Mama Africa Circus that was held in Dar, then you have no idea what you missed. The sponsors did a good job of promoting the event but I guess many people ignored it thinking they’ve outgrown such events. I'll be honest and admit that I too had chosen to take the "ignore-route" until a friend visiting from Nairobi tweeted a photo of some "impossible" stunts being done by the performing artists.

Do it Afraid

Today I am in a somewhat somber mood as I reflect on the recent repercussions of Super Storm Sandy that hit various states of America, New York being the worst hit. My heart goes out to all the victims of the ferocious storm and hope that with time, they will rebuild their lives and move on. For those who lost loved ones, I wish them peace and strength during this trying period.

Beautiful Flower Bouquet

A while back I just decided to surprise someone with a bouquet of flowers, and contrary to what most women think, I have proof that men love flowers too! Forget all that macho-ness and strong front they put up for us (women); a bouquet of beautiful flowers works like heat to a candle.... :-), but that's not what my post is about today....

Nails in the Fence

Relationships are hard. It doesn't matter whether it is a relationship between two siblings, between two workmates, between a supplier and a client, between a doctor and a patient, mother and child or a couple; fact is, as long as it is a relationship involving people, there will always be friction once in a while because naturally human beings are complicated.

If only I had known

I still have that conversation on my chat, I look at it every day I get online and regret why I didn't go an extra mile to help him.... I keep telling myself that maybe if I had been less busy things would be different today; maybe that one day he sent a hello message but I was too busy to respond would have made a difference.... yes, now I know how it feels to be on the receiving end.

Time for the hard question; Who is to blame?

I always look forward to Sunday afternoons because that's normally my time to relax my mind, reflect on the week that was and make mental notes for the next week. Besides that, I also take this time to catch up with repeats of TV shows I might have missed in the week. So this weekend was no different and as I always do on Sunday afternoons, I  tuned into Citizen and found was delighted to find them airing one of my favorite shows; "Tahidi High".

In the recent past you must have heard several business owners and many decision makers in major companies complaining of slow sales cycles in their organizations, though their products and services are top notch. Well, one would be excused for blaming the unstable economy the world over, but then again, is that the only reason why?

Why do men cheat?

I'm not Dr. Love, neither do I have a "Talk to Dr. Liz" column in any newspaper or magazine (maybe some day I will); in fact, the closest I ever came to being a doctor is when I felt sorry for hurting animals and thought maybe I could do them justice if I become a veterinary..... well, that's way before I lost my innocence. Anyway, as I was saying before I digressed (as usual), I am just a normal person with non of these credentials, but lots of experience when it comes to being hurt in relationships.

You reap what you sow

Farmers understand the concept of reaping what you sow very well, and that is why if one wants mangoes they plant mangoes and not tomatoes. Similarly in life, whatever you sow is what you shall reap. If you sow hatred and bitterness, the same shall be your portion, but if you sow kindness and love, you will reap tons of it.
