Thought For the Week - Why you need friends

Ever tried working out in a gym all by yourself? It is possible but it is very boring. Besides it can be very risky especially if you are lifting heavy weights. What if you lost your grip and the weights fell on you? Or, what if you got a muscle pull in the middle of lifting the weights and you needed help? All those are real life scenarios that have happened in the past. It is best to have a gym partner for better results.

This is not just in the gym but in every part of our lives. Like my favourite book says, two heads are better than one, and like someone else said, if you want to walk fast then go alone but if you want to go far, then go with someone else. I believe this is so that when you feel down, low or tired the other person can encourage you not to give up.

Like Albert Schweitzer said, in everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. This is why it is very important to ensure that you surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you, people who build and encourange you, people who will not fear to tell you (in your face) when you are behaving like a spoilt brat.

This is so because besides needing company along the journey called life, we all need some sound advice from time to time because we do not know everything. In order to get that sound advice therefore, we must engage the right Advisors along the way.

Like I said in this week's blog, Leader of the Pack, you need to pick your friends carefully because whatever attitudes they have, the same will be extended to you. Attitudes are contagious and so make sure you catch the right ones.

Be careful whose company you keep today and always.
