š#SaturdayShelfie: Book 12 ā The Top Five Regrets of the Dying by Bronnie Ware
In the past few weeks, Iāve caught myself reflecting on some of the decisions Iāve made throughout my adult lifeāchoices I wish I could undo, paths I wish I had taken, words I wish I had spoken⦠or kept to myself. And in those quiet moments, I found myself wishing for something we never truly getāanother lifetime, a chance to do it all over again.
Hence today's recommendation. I recommend it because sometimes, we need gentle reminders of what truly matters.
Written by Bronnie Ware, a palliative care nurse who spent years caring for people in their final days, this book captures the real regrets people had when they realized time was no longer on their side. And hereās the thingāitās never about titles, money, or being ābusy.ā The regrets are always about not being totally authentic, not being courageous, and not being totally at peace with yourself.
So, why am I encouraging people to read or re-read this book?
āļø To live a life thatās true to youānot what others expect of you.
āļø To stop postponing your dreams, happiness and even your healing too.
āļø To let go of past failures, old hurts, disappointments, and guilt that weigh you down.
āļø To understand that you donāt always get second chancesāso make this one count.
The truth is, we donāt always get second chances. Time doesnāt pause. Life doesnāt wait. The apology you meant to give, the dream you keep putting off, the people you love but havenāt said it to enoughāyou may not always get the chance to go back and make it right. And thatās what makes this book so powerful.
Itās a wake-up call to live with intention, to speak from the heart, to choose courage over comfort, and to stop waiting for āthe right time.ā Because sometimes, the right time never comes.
This is what I am reading this week; and what are you reading this week?
