Heart-to-Heart with Liz Wachuka

Heart-to-Heart with Liz Wachuka

I can't really say I know exactly when it happened, but for several years now, I’ve had this inward nudge to reach out to hurting hearts. The only challenge was, I was afraid. Afraid because I knew the depth of my own imperfections, including how imperfect my very entry into this world was. I’ve made more wrong choices than I can count, and there have been seasons when I felt completely out of place, like an alien in my own life. There were times I came painfully close to giving up. But somehow, each time, despite how broken or hurt I felt, I found the strength to rise again.

To this day, I’m still navigating the consequences of some of those choices. They didn’t just disappear with time, but I made a conscious decision not to let them define me. That decision came after stumbling upon a message that gently but powerfully shifted my perspective. It simply said:
"When you let go and let God, He will turn all your messes into a beautiful message."

That was the moment I realized my life story, flawed as it may be, had the power to speak into someone else’s healing. But that could only happen if I was willing to speak up, to be honest, and to be seen. In early 2011, I found that courage. I stepped out uncertain but with a lot of willingness. Since then, the journey has been humbling and heartwarming. Whether through blog comments, emails, or social media messages, I’ve witnessed the quiet but powerful ripple of shared stories. And I am grateful.

Along the way, I’ve come to believe that there are no mistakes in life, only lessons. Some of life’s hardest moments have turned out to be my greatest teachers. Those lessons are what shaped me into the person I am today. Am I perfect now? Not even close. I’m not a VIP, just a WIP: Work In Progress. I still fall. I still fumble. But I no longer stay down. I’ve learned to rise, dust myself off, and move forward with grace, self-compassion, and faith.

And in the spirit of that journey, I’ve committed my life to helping others rise too. My professional life is a big part of that. I am a Business Management Consultant, a Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2015, a Kaizen Trainer, and hold a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing. Over the past 25 years, I’ve worked with both public and private sector organizations to build strong systems, foster leadership, and create sustainable impact.

But my greatest joy comes from mentoring youth and young professionals, those who are just stepping into the messy beauty of adulthood. That’s why I wrote The ROUTEEN: A Winning Routine for Teens and Young Adults, which is a practical guide to help young people develop the structure, mindset, and resilience they need to thrive.

ROUTEEN isn’t just a title—it’s a philosophy that stands for:
R - Regular Routine
O – Overcoming Obstacles
U - Unwavering Understanding
T- Transformed Thinking
E - Earn Experience
E - Extraordinary Excellence
N - Non-Negotiable No!

To deepen this mission, I also founded Nurture Nest Hub (NNH), a co-working and incubation space where youth, startups, and professionals can grow, collaborate, and launch their dreams in an environment designed for learning, innovation, and empowerment. Learn more about Nurture Nest Hub here.

So no, I am not here because I have it all figured out. I’m here because I’ve fallen, and I’ve learned how to rise, and I want you to know that you can rise too. Every lesson, every stumble, and every scar can be the seed of something beautiful but only if you’re willing to let it grow.
