Rich or Poor?

July 04, 2012

I don't know who it is who said this but I remember reading somewhere that "Two people can look at the same exact thing and have two totally different perspectives ......". Well, I don't know about you, but this story here seems to have captured this quote to the letter.

One day a father took his son to a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a day and a night in the farm of a very poor family. When they got back from their trip the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"Very good Dad!" replied his son.
"Did you see how poor people can be?" the father asked.
"And what did you learn?"
The son answered, "I saw that we have a dog at home, but they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden but they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden but they have millions of stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard, they have a whole horizon...."
When the little boy was finishing, his father was speechless....
After a while his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are!"
Our outlook on life depends on the way you look at things. What you think is important to you may not be important to someone else.
The most important things in life are your friends, family, health, good humor and a positive attitude towards life. If you have all the money in the world and have one or two of these ingredients missing in your life, then you are poor but If you have these then you have everything!
It's such a simple story, yet the message is so profound! This boy taught his dad a very big lesson..... one we can all learn from.
