Someone to lean on

As we all know, this last week there were lots of power outages in Tanzania which I hear affected the entire country. Unfortunately those who did not have alternative power sources suffered the most in that not even their phones were charged. As a result, I got quite a few requests from strangers to charge their phones for them while they were waiting to get service at our shop.

Quiet Time

Every so often the power supply company in Tanzania, TANESCO, decides to cut off power without prior warning to its customers. As a result, consumers have had to look at alternative solutions to this irritating challenge posed by TANESCO. Most users opt to buy generators as an alternative source of power but no matter how powerful the generator is, depending on the capacity and the power it uses, at some poing the generator will have to be switched off to cool off for some minutes before being switched on again, otherwise instead of helping it might end up being a hazard.

Is distraction destructing you?

There are so many opportunities created by life for us to laugh hysterically but unfortunately, we are so busy passing through life to notice those moments. We are so busy being busy we forget to enjoy the free unique pleasures life always throws our way. What I have realized is that if we were to look at life from a “lighter view” we would realize there is so much humor in our day to day lives, enough to have us laughing all the time. I’ll give you an example…

Thought For the Week - Why you need friends

Ever tried working out in a gym all by yourself? It is possible but it is very boring. Besides it can be very risky especially if you are lifting heavy weights. What if you lost your grip and the weights fell on you? Or, what if you got a muscle pull in the middle of lifting the weights and you needed help? All those are real life scenarios that have happened in the past. It is best to have a gym partner for better results.

Leader of the Pack

Lately I have become addicted to a show that comes on DSTV’s Nat Geo Wild every Sunday from 7pm.  This show is about a man, no, actually it’s about dogs being “rescued” by a man whose mission is to ensure that every dog is paired with the right owner.  The word rescue is in quotes because in the real sense, these dogs are not homeless or stray dogs. On the contrary.

Thought for the week - Toxic Relationships

Every so often it is recommended that we detoxify our bodies to remove all the toxic stuff we often stuff ourselves with, such as processed foods aka junk food, to hazardous products such as cigarattes and lately shisha, to name just a few.

However, how often do we go through the same detoxifying process when it comes to the relationships we keep? A lot of people know that it is a good idea to remove toxic people from their lives. Infact, it is MANDATORY to do so very often, but unforunately not many have the guts to do so.

Is toxicity intoxicating you?

Anyone ever suffered ingrown toenails? Well, I suffer that condition and I can tell you it is not comfortable when it happens. For the sake of those who don’t know what this condition is, let me explain it to you the best way I can.

Toothless Bulldog

"When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe that one of two things will happen; either there will be something solid for you to stand upon, or you will be taught to fly" Well, those are the words of Patrick Overton taken from his poem "The Leaning Tree". Unfortunately though, not many of us ever find out whether they would have grown wings or not.
