Transition is necessary for promotion

Have you ever thought about the process it takes for a plane to fly or land? By the time the passengers are deplaning or boarding, the engines are normally off even if the plane had just landed twenty minutes earlier. Before the plane takes off, the pilot(s) go through intensive pre-flight processes before they can confirm they are ready for take off (again). In short, by the time the plane is ready to lift off from the ground to the air, alot happens in between.

Transition takes place.

Without transition, the plane would never leave the ground to the air, but it would be just another imitation of a bird. Without the engines being turned on, the plane taxing and gathering momentum before take off, the plane would never make it to the air.

Same case applies to various areas of our lives. Before we can move from one level to another, transition has to take place. But what is transition you might ask? According to my favorite online dictionary, transition is the "process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another". Transition is therefore not an event but a process. A process involves several related events that culminate to the desired outcome.

A human child does not just leave the cot and start running one day; they go through the process of crawling, trying to stand up and falling, then taking some unsure steps, then they firm up their legs and have less falls until eventually they start running all over the place, causing the mother to think of putting speed bumps in the house.

Similarly (or maybe I should say ideally), nobody becomes promoted from one level to another until they prove their abilities and readiness for promotion in the current level they are in. Why? Because the higher you rise, the higher the responsibilities become and therefore the more abilities you need to have in order to handle the added responsibilities.

Transition is never easy, but it is manageable. It is a dreaded process, but it is not a bad thing. It is a necessity for promotion to happen. So the next time you find yourself going through a moment of transition, look at it with a positive attitude and say to yourself that, "This is a sure sign that I am about to step up to the next level." As for those of you going through the process right now, tough it out and don't give up because in a short while, you will earn your promotion in one way or another.

Be Ignited. Be Inspired. Be Influenced. Become the best version of yourself you can ever be.
